If you’re seeking a bold and exciting dining experience, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine might just be your next food adventure. We visited their outlet at The Seletar Mall to explore their signature dishes and uncover if they are truly worth the hype.
Xiang Xiang Three Signature Dishes

Hunan Stir-fry Pork (Mild Spicy)

This dish is irresistibly aromatic and pairs perfectly with rice. The use of Spanish Iberico Pork and premium White Fungus from Yunnan creates a savoury and flavourful combination. While we’re not fans of bell peppers, the Shandong Screw Pepper used in this dish surprised us—crunchy, juicy, and elevating the overall taste and texture. However, health-conscious diners may find this dish slightly greasy. Nonetheless, it was delectable, and we rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Golden Broth Sour and Spicy Fish (Mild Spicy)

For those who enjoy a tangy, palate-awakening dish, the Golden Broth Sour and Spicy Fish is an excellent choice. The freshness of the fish is undeniable, complemented by a well-balanced sour and spicy flavour. We particularly loved how smooth the broth was. However, picking out the Sichuan peppercorns was a hassle, as we’re not fans of their numbing aftertaste. This dish is ideal for diners who prefer lighter, less greasy options. We rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
18-Second Angus Beef Stir-fry (Mild Spicy)

A must-try for beef lovers, this dish boasts an impeccable fat-to-lean ratio. Each slice of Angus beef is cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavour. Garlic and mild spice further enhance the dish, making it an excellent companion to rice. However, like the Hunan Stir-fry Pork, it leans towards the greasy side. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Additional Sides to Complete the Meal
Bursting Mini Tofu Bites (Mild Spicy)

A great appetiser to start the meal, these bite-sized tofu bites are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The accompanying tangy sauce enhances the overall experience and whets the appetite before the main courses arrive. We rate this dish 4 out of 5 stars.
Steamed Egg with Shrimp

The steamed egg was smooth, silky, and delightfully light on the palate. However, the presentation was a bit awkward, with the shrimp appearing hastily scattered on top. While the combination was pleasant, the dish could benefit from a more refined appearance. We rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Beyond the Food: Ambience and Perks
Aside from the food, we appreciated the restaurant’s clean and refreshing atmosphere, which made for a comfortable dining experience. The generous portion sizes make it ideal for families and groups. Diners can also enjoy exclusive member discounts by signing up for membership. A thoughtful touch from the restaurant is the complimentary ice cream and snacks for all diners—perfect for rounding off a satisfying meal.
Final Verdict: If you enjoy bold flavours, generous portions, and a lively dining experience, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine is definitely worth a visit. Have you tried it yet? Share your thoughts with us!
